“Reflecting back on our experience with the Shuttle SB77G5, we can’t help but be impressed by its stylish design, build quality, efficient layout, easy build-out effort and extremely quiet operation,” praised reviewer Dave Altavilla. “Even with a 3.6GHz Prescott core Pentium [LGA775], the system kept thermals in check and fan speeds well underneath the radar acoustically.”
Based on the Intel 875P—the IT professionals’ chipset of choice—the SB77G5 supports readily available 8X AGP cards, dual-channel DRR 400 and Serial ATA with RAID (0, 1). Hot Hardware tested this machine with a Pentium®4 3.6, GeForce™ 6800 Ultra and Radeon X800 XT (in separate tests) and ran benchmark tests continuously for 12 hours.
Our results were impressive to say the least. The demo loop never even had so much as a twitch,” gushed Altavilla. “We took temp readings with the GeForce 6800U installed and discovered the (…) system temp recorded was 41ºC. The main system fan was running at 1650 RPM, which is virtually inaudible (…) you had to lean your head over the system to tell if it was running.”
